I finally understand why some people die of drug overdose. Not only because they really wanted to die, but also because, drugs such as pain killers are undoubtedly powerful in alleviating the utmost kind of pain.
Picture this: You're back in the time when you are just an 8-year old snotty kid, and your major crush doesn't "crush" you back. Out of extreme unluckiness, you are having the most inexplicable, intolerable, excruciating tooth ache, and you just want to smash your face against the wall until all your evil teeth fall off and die. Then, out of nowhere, your mother gets in the picture, and says, "NOW, NOW, MY DEAR CHILD. YOUR TOOTH ACHE WOULD SOON GO AWAY. MOMMY'S HERE. TAKE THIS, AND YOU'D SOON FEEL BETTER. YES, JUST DRINK IT. SEE? NOTHING'S GONNA HURT YOU. MOMMY LOVES YOU SO, THAT'S WHY."
So... wouldn't you take the drug that promises to soothe the pain in your teeth? Darn, if you don't, ya? Or you must probably be some kind of an alien who doesn't have a human mother or a human heart that knows that mothers know best. I mean, for pete's sake, it's your mother offering her love to you, which in this case, took the form of a pain killer.
10 years later, you'd feel the same kind of torturous pain, and every time you feel like smashing your head or arms or nose or lips or stomach against the concrete wall, the memory of your loving mother and her "miracle" drug would come into mind. The only difference is that now you can take as many "miracle drugs" as you like because the pain is 9x greater than what you have felt when you were 8 years old.
So... having lived through the same scenario, I don't think I can still say with definite assurance that people who die of drug overdose are just plain stupid and thoughtless. Their sufferings have just reached their thresholds to withstand prolonged and severe physical agony.
That is all. Good night.
