this day started lazily. went to school listening to the hunger games audio book. almost missed my stop as the narrator’s voice crooned away in the background. felt like her voice provided comfort and solace as I cruised along the rumpled and cacophonous streets of the city. she has so much to offer but time left no room for anyone to pause and listen. the thing that I like best about an audiobook is that I am bound to exist in between two worlds at the same time. I looked sideways and I saw a 50-year old man’s uncombed moustache. He sighed, possibly thinking of how he’ll survive the day with only a hundred peso bill in his pocket. at the same time, in a different dimension, Katniss is rummaging through the trash bin, trying to live for another day, and I… I was there to witness how things seemed to repeat themselves across generations.
tonight I did monica’s write-up. had to look for our high school yearbook for reference. seeing all these familiar faces had me looking back to the past. where are they now? how did they change? some thoughts surged inside my mind and I knew that I did and didn’t enjoy those years. every time I dive into the long-ago years, my brain instantly shifts back to its selective mode of processing.
for now, I will treat myself to a the 12th episode of PLL
