I’m always coming down from the night before

there is safety in seeing stacks of books, piled up haphazardly, standing out amongst the litter interspersed on the cramped desk

the fears are starting to seep in once again. I hold back. let me be a column, a pillar, a renowned novelist’s sentence. how does it feel to be indestructible/omniscient?

let me shell myself in iron and platinum so I won’t hurt. let me cry for the last time. teach me to accept.
